Rite to Freedom offers a range of opportunities for nature connection and immersive creativity to support mental and physical health and wellbeing.

See What We Do page for more details.

Rite to Freedom is currently transitioning from Charitable Status to Social Enterprise. We are in the process of closing down the Charity and the associated Limited Company.

As soon as this process is complete, we will be forming a new Limited Company as part of our new Rite to Freedom Social Enterprise.

Feedback from the 2024 Bloom Festival:

"The selection of Rite to Freedom films were superb, the crafting and photography and dovetailing and sequence of images was beautifully done"

"I took part in one event, called Recovery Cabaret, run and hosted by Rite to Freedom, I had a 5 minute slot in which I read a poem. I had some good, understanding, appreciative and sympathetic feedback about my poem and performance/delivery from Caspar Walsh, creator and manager of Rite to Freedom. It was the best, most encouraging feedback I've ever had, in over 30 years' experience as poet & spoken word artist."

Evaluations and Evidence for the Impact of our Work

100% of participants interviewed state that being part of Rite to Freedom has supported them to make more positive choices and choose healthier directions in their lives.

This artwork below of a Dartmoor landscape was created by Gill Thompson for our ongoing impact evaluation. It is an interactive, multimedia celebration of the work of the charity with click through elements highlighting aspects of our delivery – supporting mental and physical health and wellbeing through nature connection, meditation and creative practice.

Thank you for allowing me to re-member who I am. I go from broken to open and to be a part of a kinder, gentler world that I believe we all deserve and is coming into fruition one person at a time! So much joy, so much love, namaste.

Rite to Freedom offers a reliable and highly effective service; that upholds its vision and values, and delivers a vibrant, pioneering model for change. Its leadership offers the strength of team working, reflectivity, and pioneering approaches. It is a vibrant, radical, social-initiatory intervention which effectively utilises the ‘shoulders-of-giants’; and from that robust position, enables a growing community towards positive role modelling, active leadership, and resilient citizens.

Stories are what connect us, they always have and they always will.

A short film from award winning filmmaker Caspar Walsh and the Rite to Freedom crew...

To Know the Difference is the second film from Rite to Freedom’s (R2F) creative recovery team. It is about the choices we make and the paths we take and was produced by a mixture of industry professionals and individuals in established addiction recovery. Following on from the award winning, ‘We Seek the Teeth’, To Know the Difference explores the inspiring recovery journey of R2F previous participant Laura Hamlyn. Following Laura's own words as she moves through the landscape of Dartmoor, this compelling, intimate, short film explores the three pillars of Rite to Freedom's recovery ethos - nature connection, creative expression and the mindful life.
