There have been community wide discussions since 2021 to create a fully representative Community Council for Rite to Freedom. We wanted to be autonomous and governed by an experienced group with lived experience of chronic mental and physical ill health, neuro diversity and addiction challenges. The Community Council (CC) is made up of our Company Directors and trusted, long-standing members of the R2F community (staff and volunteers) and is a bridge between the R2F community, staff, our Board of Directors and the wider world. It ensures the aims, objectives and vision of Rite to Freedom are upheld and updated where needed.

The CC was formed by unanimous vote in September 2021 and in July 2024, replaced our long-standing board of Trustees from our time as a registered charity.

Rite to Freedom now operates as a Social Enterprise with newly revised Objects (Articles of Association).
