Rite to Freedom’s Impact Statement
Impact statement continued: The residential courses will bring people together in natural landscapes, with groups opening up and sharing their stories and experiences, supporting and witnessing each other through this process, building strong relationships. Previous participants will act as mentors and guides, providing essential support and further integrating their own journey. Onsite staff members and trauma specialists will ensure that courses are well held and any crises alleviated.
The relationships that are formed through the programme will be nurtured by monthly mentoring support days, online forums and user-led social activities to allow those in recovery to remain connected to Write to Freedom, break cycles of isolation and assist in the integration of healthy recovery community and re-integration into the wider world.
Community-based celebrations of the creative work produced during the programme will be held that will engage service user’s families, friends and the general public. As well as supporting the growth of individuals and communities, the celebration days will deliver a positive message and celebrate recovery in Devon. The wider community will benefit from exhibitions of the work both in physical venues and online.
